We're pushing the boundaries of premium electric architecture and going beyond what was previously thought to be achievable. We wanted to break through barriers, and with the help of the Formula 1 experts at Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains, we did just that with the all-electric VISION EQXX concept car.
Our design strategy started off with a low impact on the environment in mind. Building a bigger battery would be the easiest way to increase efficiency, but we weren't about to go the simple approach. Instead, we started from scratch while designing the VISION EQXX's core components, pushing for improbably light and highly effective ones. We succeeded in creating an energy-dense battery that is 30% lighter and 50% smaller in size. Our aerodynamicists made more improvements, which allowed us to reduce the drag coefficient to an unbelievable cd 0.17. Disclaimer This prototype car, which took just 18 months to develop, has an astonishing WLTP-estimated 620-mile range. With a number like that, this car might end up being the electric road trip's magic bullet, capable of traveling huge miles on a single charge. The typical American motorist may only require a complete recharge twice a month on a daily basis.
Beyond its engine, this car has been streamlined. Solar panels were placed on the roof to power several interior appliances. Natural elements such as cactus fibers, mushrooms, and vegan silk were used to create interior materials that provide everything from door handles to furniture a sumptuous look.
More than just effective, the VISION EQXX is also incredibly cool. This Mercedes offers cutting-edge technology, sophisticated elegance, and excellent comfort while staying true to its legacy. It illustrates how technological advancements have led to our transition to software-driven design. Accents in silver, rose gold, and gloss black display a forward-thinking vision of contemporary luxury.
The XX in the name of this vehicle represents the breadth of the skills that go into it; it is the X-factor in an agile X-divisional collaboration. The VISION EQXX, which had its digital global premiere in January 2022, serves as a model for the direction that electromobility will take.
